Eligibility and Criteria
- Award recipients must demonstrate bold vision and innovation in seeking to address a climate or conservation challenge.
- Award recipients must be addressing challenges along one of the five pillars of the Earthshot Prize: Protect and Restore Nature; Clean Our Air; Revive Our Oceans; Build a Waste-free World; and/or Fix Our Climate.
- Award recipients must be based in the Northeast Region of the United States, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
- Award recipients’ solutions can be in any stage of development from conception through maturity, but there must be opportunity to scale the innovation.
- Award recipients’ solutions can come from any organizational model, including but not limited to: nonprofit/NGO, for-profit/social enterprise, government entity, university or educational institution, or an individual.
- To be considered, all applications must be submitted no later than Friday, May 31, 2024 at 8:00PM ET.
All applications will be reviewed by experts in environmental and climate fields. The experts will evaluate the information provided in the application for each solution using this rubric. Finalists for the award will present pitches about their solution to a body of interested, non-expert judges who will assist in choosing the winners.
Recognition and Awards
Award winners will receive grant funding of up to $100,000 to accelerate the development and scale of their solutions. Funds will be distributed as grants and will require grant reporting.
The 2024 awards will be presented during a September 12, 2024 ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The ceremony will commemorate the 62nd anniversary of President Kennedy’s Moonshot speech and highlight the incredible work being done to solve our planet’s greatest challenges. Finalists for the 2024 awards will be notified in July or August, in advance of the ceremony.
