New Hemingway Materials from Cuba Made Available for First Time at JFK Library

BOSTON, MA – The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum today announced that it has made available, in print form, 2,500 digital scans of Ernest Hemingway materials housed at the Nobel Prize-winning author’s former Cuban estate, the Finca Vigía. This material, which has never been seen outside of Cuba, includes letters, passports, telegrams, household accounts, bar bills, recipes and a notebook of hurricane observations among other items. It was digitized through the efforts of the U.S. Finca Vigía Foundation under an agreement with the Cuban Council of National Heritage.

Heather P. Campion Named CEO of the JFK Library Foundation

BOSTON, MA – Kenneth R. Feinberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, today announced the selection of Heather P. Campion as the new Chief Executive Officer of the organization. Campion is a highly-regarded leader in the business, academic and philanthropic communities with deep roots in national politics, including service on the White House staff of President Jimmy Carter. Campion will take on oversight of the Foundation on March 3, 2014.

New Material Opened from Jacqueline Kennedy Papers

Boston, MA — Fifty years after Jacqueline Kennedy publicly expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support following the death of President John F. Kennedy, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum has opened a new series of condolence mail from the First Lady’s personal papers. The series contains condolence that was forwarded to and managed by Mrs. Kennedy’s personal secretaries. Of note, a letter from Maxine McNair, mother of Denise McNair, one of the four girls who were killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama in September 1963, was discovered among the documents in this series.

JFK Library Plans Tributes Marking 50th Anniversary of November 22, 1963

BOSTON, MA – The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, the official memorial to President John F. Kennedy, will observe the 50th anniversary of November 22, 1963 with a number of events that celebrate the legacy of the nation’s 35th President. Observances will include a ceremony webcasted by satellite from the Kennedy Library’s IM Pei-designed glass pavilion; the presentation of a selection of artifacts from the President’s State Funeral that have never before been displayed; an interactive documentary and website celebrating the vibrant presence of JFK in the world today; and an award ceremony on November 25 during which Jack Schlossberg, President Kennedy’s grandson, will celebrate two young Americans who answered President Kennedy’s call for pioneers of the New Frontier.

JFK Library and German Consulate to Unveil Sculpture Honoring JFK’s Historic Trip to Berlin at Copley Place

Boston MA –The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, along with the German Consulate of Boston, today announced that they will unveil a painted, life-size, fiberglass bear sculpture at Copley Place on September 24, 2013. Originally part of a public art project in Berlin called Buddy Bears, the sculpture was presented by then German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Senator Edward M. Kennedy in 2008 to commemorate the solidarity his brother, John F. Kennedy, had offered the German people during his presidency. The sculpture is also presented as a symbol of solidarity between the people of the United States and Germany.

Artist’s Replica of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy’s Wedding Gown to be Displayed in Honor of 60th Wedding Anniversary

JFK Library Introduces New Discount for EBT Cardholders

Boston, MA– The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum today introduced a new program that invites all Massachusetts residents with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards to show their card to get $4 per person admission to the museum, a savings of $8 on regular adult admission.
